OFB - Washington County Services

Washington County Services, located in Beaverton at OFB West, distributes food to hunger-relief agencies in Washington County. It's one of four regional food banks directly operated by OFB.

  • Washington County Services distributes more than 300,000 pounds of food per month to more than 100 Washington County hunger-relief agencies and six supplemental programs.
  • We provide agencies with technical support, training and grant funds to ensure stability and build capacity.
  • We promote peer-to-peer learning to share best practices and build a stronger web of support for people in need.
  • We connect agencies to resources for food, funds and volunteer support.

The challenge

During fiscal year 2009-10, emergency food box distribution in Washington County skyrocketed 24 percent.

OFB West

Thanks to generous community support, Oregon Food Bank completed an $8.5 million capital campaign to create OFB West, a permanent food bank facility dedicated to fighting hunger in Washington County and across Oregon.

  • OFB West's renovated 35,000-square-foot Maybelle Clark Macdonald Warehouse doubles the storage capacity in Washington County for emergency food.
  • The M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust Perishable Repack Room triples OFB's capacity to safely sort and repack fresh and frozen foods with the help of hundreds of volunteers.
  • That space along with the Bob Fisher Volunteer Action Center enables OFB West to triple the number of volunteers engaged in the fight against hunger in Washington County.
