A special volunteer opportunity with Oregon Food Bank

July 22, 2014

Many of our regular volunteers have talked to us about wanting to see different parts of Oregon Food Bank's distribution chain and interact with the folks that we serve.

Here's your chance! This summer we're able to do something we've never done before: Harvest Share in Portland parks!

The Harvest Share program brings fresh and healthy fruits and vegetables directly to communities in need at no cost to the clients. As a volunteer you will be helping set up and assisting clients as they shop. Shifts are from 11:00am-1:00pm on either Tuesdays or Wednesdays starting the week of July 28th and going for 4 weeks. You're welcome to sign up for one of these shifts or for all 4.

Volunteer tasks include:

  • Set up produce to make shopping easy
  • Bag produce into individual quantities
  • Greet people as they arrive
  • Help people sign-in
  • Clean up leftover produce and packaging
  • Lifting boxes of 5-40 lbs
