Fred Meyer Stores continue to engage employees and customers in the fight against hunger at every level. Donations of food, funds, time, event sponsorship and relationships are a tremendous source of support for OFB’s mission.
“Our long-term partnership with Fred Meyer impacts hunger relief in every geographic area in Oregon,” says Sarah Schirmer, OFB’s corporate gifts developer. “From millions of pounds of fresh, nutritious food, to food drives and financial contributions from employees and customers, Fred Meyer’s tireless support truly inspires all of us at OFB.”
Here are a few recent examples of Fred Meyer Stores support:
Fred Meyer employee giving funds and the in-store register coin box money will assist in building statewide infrastructure at OFB.
Fred Meyer continues their support of OFB’s fall gala, the Oregon Harvest Dinner as the Presenting Sponsor. The event, on October 18, 2014, is OFB’s second largest fundraiser for hunger relief.
Fred Meyer and QFC are founding partners in OFB’s Fresh Alliance program to recover and distribute perishable foods to hunger-relief agencies. Locally, Fred Meyer donated nearly 750,000 lbs of fresh food in FY 2013. Statewide, 100 percent of Fred Meyer stores participate in this program, resulting in more than 1.5 million pounds of food last year.
From all of us at Oregon Food Bank, a huge thank you to Fred Meyer for all that you do … because no one should be hungry.
