For nearly a month, 10 Republicans in the State Senate haven’t shown up to work – making it impossible to pass on critical legislation to end hunger in our communities. Their walkout is blocking critical investments in food assistance, as well as policy changes that address the drivers of food insecurity. And if they don’t return soon, more Oregon families will face hunger and poverty.
As our communities continue to face historically high rates of hunger, our state has the resources to make a real difference this legislative session. There is widespread support across rural, urban and suburban communities for the kind of policies and investments we need to end hunger for good. And waiting until the end of session is too late to make meaningful progress on these complex issues. We need our elected leaders to come together now and do what’s right for our communities.
Join us in urging Senate Republicans to come back to work on behalf of Oregon families!
