Take Action: USDA must act NOW to ensure millions can access food during the shutdown

Send Emails

Without immediate action from the U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA), more than 40 million people will not have access to their food benefits (SNAP) until the federal government reopens. This includes 16 million children.

USDA can and must use contingency and carryover funds to ensure that SNAP continues to flow through the shutdown, so that 750,000+ Oregonians have enough food through November.

Please join us and over 200 Oregon organizations in urging our federal leaders to use all available steps to ensure Oregonians continue to access food. This is an urgent moment to take action.

SNAP (Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, also known as Food Stamps/EBT) is a key anti-hunger program in the U.S. that has a wide and deep impact on our communities. 1 in 6 people in Oregon use SNAP to buy the foods they need to live.
